Iron and Wine and Beer

On May 14th Dad and I took a trip into the city to see Iron and Wine.  Dad had worked all day and I had studied for much of the day but we were really excited to see Sam Beam belt out some beautiful though sometimes sad tunes.

First we went to grab some dinner and got Lamb and Feta burgers at the Amsterdam Ale House.  It was really good, and I didn't remember to take a picture.  We also had some yummy beer.  The Bluepoint White IPA is superb! After dinner we headed to the Beacon Theatre.  I had never been there before and it is just stunning.
Dad and I before the show!
Tapestry that hangs above the stage, support by these gold beams you can see to the right of the statue in the next picutre

Huge statues on both sides of the stage, the whole place feels very regal!
 pretty!
Then the show started, he brought his big ol' band
My favorite part of the night was when it was just Sam and his guitar.  There was one song, Flightless Bird, where he maybe stroked the guitar at the end three times, but otherwise it was just his voice...and it felt like he was just singing to you, the most beautiful song you've ever heard.

After the show! Inside (above) and outside (below) the theatre!
The ceiling is my, and I am sure a lot of people's favorite part!

The funniest and worst part of the night was when we finally got home around 12:20 AM, we pulled up to the house and remembered that I had driven my car to dad's office to meet him before the concert.  FAIL.  It was a sleepy May 15th for us both!
